The first track of 2021 from Plymouth five-piece The Native is their best yet. ‘Lost On You’ is an instant singalong wrapped in simultaneous nostalgia and positivity. The chorus is an uplifting wash of chords and huge vocals, while the verses bring the texture down to muted guitars and thudding drums. Lyrically, the band explain that their latest single is “about holding out for a person who doesn’t like you back, knowing they’ll never feel the same.” The band are hotly tipped by BBC Introducing, and have huge, highly emotive tracks like ‘Chasing Highs’ and ‘Frontline’ in their back-catalogue. -Dan Peeke
